Smoking: Family Roots

What we learn in our homes makes a huge difference in who we become. When I was first in high school I used to hang out with the “smoker kids” because I felt like I didn’t have anywhere else to belong. I remember standing guard for my underage friends during lunch to make sure that our school’s police officer wouldn’t catch them. Almost everyday that year I was offered a cigarette and every time I turned it down. However on one occasion I felt very torn about whether or not I should start smoking but I remembered the consequences of smoking and I knew that my parents’ would be very disappointed in me.

Smoking is a nasty habit that I feel can be prevented in the home or cultivated in the home. That is why it is crucial to build a family on strong roots where the children can learn to make good choices.
